Your photographer

I am the owner and photographer of My Sister’s Smile. I am also the wife of a fabulous younger man named Eric, who acts as my assistant on weekends, and the mother of three of the best children in the world, not that I’m at all biased. I have a son, Declan and twin daughters, Makenzie and Morgan. You are sure to see them frequently in my portfolio and very often on the blog.

I used to work as a nurse which blessed me in many ways. Nursing is what brought me and my wonderful husband together. Nursing allowed me to take a full year of maternity leave when I was pregnant with the twins. But something was missing. I wasn’t in love with nursing anymore. I actually dreaded going back to work. I wanted to do something different. Something that I was good at, enjoyed doing, and allowed me to work from home. Sounds like a dream right? Well, call it what ever you want, it’s turning into a wonderful career!

My children are my inspiration and the reason I chose photography as a career. I take so many pictures of them and have a blast doing it! A constant student, I try to learn something new every day. I’m always reading and getting feedback from other professionals to become the best photographer I can be. I also love the technical aspects of photo editing and love to play with pictures to make works of art. I hope that my love for photography is evident in my portfolio. It truly is a pleasure capturing the wonderful moments of your life and presenting them to you as treasured keepsakes.

Location

I am conveniently located one exit west of the I-10 and 101 interchange in Avondale, AZ. My studio is very easy to find. Once I receive your initial session fee, a map and directions will be mailed or e-mailed to you.

Maternity

Please bring your favorite maternity dresses and outfits. A suggestion for a top is a men's button up dress shirt and/or tank top. For portraits with your significant other, I suggest wearing the same color shirt. I also offer drapes and artistic, beautiful partial or full nude portraits. Please schedule your appointment around your 8th month of pregnancy to make sure you have a beautifully large baby belly! On the day of your session, please wear loose clothing and undergarments so there will be no lines on your body or belly.

Newborns and Babies

I am especially patient with babies. Being a mother myself, I know how taxing it is at a usual studio. With me, when the baby is hungry, you can feed him. When she needs changing, you can do that. Anything your child needs, you can give them without feeling rushed and frustrated. I am here for you and will make sure your experience is comfortable and enjoyable.

With my unique studio experience, you will find I rarely use tripods. I do not want a child to sit in one position while I try to get a perfect posed shot. Some of the most memorable photographs are those that are not posed. I will try some poses but do not get frustrated if they do not work. I will still capture images that will amaze you!

For newborn sittings, parents please wear black shirts so you can be the background for some shots. And also bring a change of clothing so we can take family portraits as well!

Children and Teens

Bring your child's favorite toy, stuffed animal, rocking horse, or even pet to ensure truly memorable photos. The options are limited only to the imagination!

Teens, bring as many changes of clothing as you like. You might want to consider a variety as well. It might be summer but you look stunning in your blue sweater. Bring the sweater! You can bring 2 friends free! Note that their picture will only be taken if you are in them. I also offer high school senior sessions with drapes for those special yearbook portraits.

Family and Couples

You can wear anything for these portraits but try to have the colors match. This signifies unity and makes for fantastic portraits.

I also offer location shoots. If you know of a beautiful setting and would like to have your portraits taken there, let me know and I will arrange it. There is an additional fee for location shoots outside the Phoenix Metropolitan area unless there is a special promotion.

Other

Basic enhancements to your portraits include color correction, conversion to black & white or sepia, softening of skin and wrinkles, removal of minor blemishes and splotching, lightening of under eye circles, and brightening of teeth and eyes.

Availability

Current Month

I am now booked through September and am taking appointments for October and November. I only have afternoon sessions available for Tuesdays through Thursdays.
